"Snapshots of Life"

...fragmented memories of our individual and combined histories

that can transport us to another time...

through photography we can share the joys of life!

Decorating with photographs made easy

I'd like to share some ideas with you on how to display those wonderful family photographs that so often get shoved in a box simply because we have no idea how to display them. As we live in a visual society, why not display them on your wall, on the mantle or in a beautiful scrapbook on the coffee table? Using them to decorate gives us the chance to enjoy and share the happiness and beauty they behold and bring to mind fond remembrances of those we love.

Getting started
Remember to tell the story....when gathering images to display, keep in mind what you are trying to accomplish. Select images that will: tell a story, create a family showcase and blend with your decor.
You can do this by gathering images that already exist. Pull out the proofs from Gail Ann, look through the family archives, school pictures....When existing images are removed from your scrapbooks, reproduced and framed, they make delightfully unexpected additions to your decor. (Ask gail ann about her copy and restoration services.)

Here are some simple decorating ideas
1. Treasured family photographs are important. Why not make them the focal point of your living room or den? Enlarge your favorite image to sizes 11x14 to 30x40 for impact.
2. Gather your favorite images and display them in an eclectic collection of tabletop frames. Stop by the gallery and pick some up!
3. It's easy to forget that pictures can be hung on anything-not just the wall. Try hanging them from a dresser knob; an empty coat peg; front of a closet door!
4. Individual 'shelving' strips make for fun ways to display your frames prints. Just place framed prints (possible from Gail Ann's found frame collection!) on shelf and lean against the wall.
5. Folding screens are still popular ways to display favorite images.
6. In the bookcase why not add some interesting framed prints?
7. Display favorite photographs in common areas of you home that are encountered everyday like the family computer desk, table by the front door, kitchen countertop!
8. Create a piece of fine art by matting and displaying in museum mount frames.
9. Gail Ann offers her found frame collection. Let her mat and frame your favorite images in gently used frames from the past.
In essence, hang it on a wall, put it on an easel or create something new!
Don't be afraid to put them anywhere. Stop by Gail Ann Gallery for inspiration. Good luck.
